The setting of Preludes:

First, in the Lake District of Northern England, a rural area popular by its scenery and walking paths, this where Wordsworth was raised.
Next is Cambridge, where Wordsworth attended university.
London - in his third book, a walking tour of the Alps (Europe), who thinks about the importance of the scenery to him as a writer.
Eventually, Wordsworth returns permanently to the Lake District, because for him the place is the source of his poetic inspiration.
